SUNDAY Morning - Three Wave Start

Wave One “Gran"  7:00AM Staging

All “Gran” 100 mile riders are expected to be staged at 7AM on Avenue Reuther behind the Start / Finish truss. We will have a riders meeting to quickly alert you again to the directions of the day. There will be a rolling police neutral-start for the first 5 miles. The police escort will make a left turn on David Way off of Bouquet Canyon Road. The course will continue straight to the Replay Timing “Timed Start” which is at mile 7.8 on Bouquet Canyon Road. The official start time of everyone in the Gran Route will be the time that the first rider crosses the Timing Mat on Bouquet. The last rider in the Peloton is considered already started that far behind the rider who passed first; just as in every stage of every bike race you have watched. For those that have not looked at the supplied route decal, you will stay on Bouquet until the left-hand-turn on Lake Elizabeth Road.

Wave Two“Medio”  Route 8:30AM Depart

All “Medio” 60 mile riders are expected to be staged promptly at 8:15AM on Avenue Reuther behind the Start Finish truss. At 8:15AM we will have a riders meeting to quickly alert you again to the directions of the day. The “Medio" riders will depart with the rolling police neutral-start for the first 5 miles. The Police escort will make turn left on David Way off of Bouquet Canyon Road and the course will continue straight to the Replay Timing “Timed Start” which is at mile 7.8 on Bouquet Canyon Road. The start time of everyone in the Medio Route will be the time that the first rider crosses the Timing Mat/sensor on Bouquet. The last rider in the Peloton is already starting that far behind the rider who passed first, just as in every stage of every bike race you have watched. For those that have not yet looked at the supplied route decal, you will stay on Bouquet until the left-hand-turn on Lake Elizabeth Road.

Wave Three“Family Route”  9:30AM Start

The Family Route will stage at 9:15AM behind the start Finish truss. There will be a riders meeting to explain the rules of the route. It too will have a police neutral-roll-out of 1-mile to a left-hand-turn to the bike path on Reuther and Soledad Canyon Road. From there you will follow the green signs with yellow arrows for a 20-mile route (water stop included) that returns to the same Finish truss at the expo area. The Family Route will be open all afternoon. All participants will receive a t-shirt and water bottle.

Event Course Timing

The 60 mile “Medio” and 100 mile “Gran” routes will have adhesive seatpost number plates provided at registration with a unique personal-encrypted-decal that will register your time when you cross the Timing Mat 7.8 miles from the start and in return again at 6.7 miles from the finish. (Note the Start at 7.8 miles is different from the finish route.) This is for rider safety, routing away from the busier streets. Please become familiar with your route and check out the Routes Page. The 20-mile family route is not a timed event.

Mavic Neutral Support

We are honored to have the Mavic Pro-Tour Neutral Support service for our event. This is done as a courtesy by Mavic. They will have a Mavic Moto-1 behind the lead group of the Gran Route. They will have the Volkswagon Wagon in Position 2 and Mavic Sprinter in Position 3 behind the Gran and Medio routes leap frogging to support riders with flat tires or mechanicals. They are there to help you get rolling first with your supplies, they are not a bike shop and should be treated with the greatest of respect. Please note: Mavic Neutral support is not allowed to transport riders in the event of a bicycle that can not proceed forward on the course.

Course Details: Medio & Gran

The best description is there is a 60-mile Medio route that has an extra loop that will make it a “Gran” adventure. Although, starting 90-minutes ahead at mile 36.3 The Gran riders will continue straight down San Fransquito Canyon, exiting Green Valley and head out for a 35.1 mile additional loop. The loop will return to the same junction at mile 71.4 where the Gran Route will make a left and follow the same exact course as the “Medio" route. Both colored markers (Red & Black) will be used to the finish.

Gran Route Dry Gulch Road / Bari's Bypass

There is a 1.9 mile section that allows us to stay out of the city and traffic lights. This "Short-Cut" is 50/50 dirt and pavement. The dirt can be on the soft side. it's very short and has been ridden by our entire valley clubs with zero problems. We hope you enjoy this unique feature of the "Gran" route.

At the Top of the Summit there will be the "Mavic Mountain Musette feed Zone" the first 20 riders will be “handed up” a Mavic Musette which will include 2-fresh event water bottles; One with GQ6 Flooid and one with straight water along with a Bonkbreaker bar and Bonkbreaker chews. There will also be a Feed Zone a few tenth’s further at the top for those missing the Musette.

Muscle Monster “KOM” presented By Primal

There is a 1.1 mile Strava Special Test on Spunky Canyon Road. Are you up for the challenge of taking the fastest time on the ride?

Please note that there are numerous areas on the course where there is “No Phone Service”.  If you see a rider in medical need or with a broken bicycle please take a number and description and please provide this information to the personnel at the next feed zone. If for some reason there is a rider in need, we ask you to stay with the downed rider until the arrival of medical attention. You will be compensated for your actions.
